Sunshine Project – Day 9, Gas Station, Abington, PA

Today I felt the need for the familiar, the ordinary. Many changes have come to our family in the last few weeks, all good, but following as they did on the heels of my eye surgery in October, I feel a little bounced around. I am a person who finds routine everyday life quite enough to handle, so out-of-the-ordinary events hit me with more impact than others, it seems. I need time to recover and regroup and adjust to the new way things are.

So I decided to leave the sunshine today in a very ordinary place, one that’s familiar to me: my local gas station. Getting gas is a task that requires no thinking, no planning, nothing but doing, and it’s just right for today.

This is what we're here for.

This is what we’re here for.

I set the sunshine on the concrete barrier next to the pumps. I am sure that someone will find it easily – you know how you sort of look around, daydreaming, while the tank is filling.

Happy traveling through the day, and enjoy sunshine, I hope.
